Foreign Ministry Holds Work Symposium with Agencies of the UN Development System in China

On April 3, 2018, the Foreign Ministry held a work symposium with agencies of the United Nations (UN) development system in China. Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs Zhang Jun and UN Resident Coordinator in China Nicholas Rosellini co-chaired the symposium. Relevant principals of the Department of International Economic Affairs, the Department of International Organizations and Conferences and the Protocol Department of the Foreign Ministry, Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Missions and the United Nations Association of China as well as representatives from 18 UN agencies in China including the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations World Food Programme, the United Nations Environment Programme, the World Health Organization and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization attended the symposium.

Focusing on issues such as China's development in the new era, the joint construction of the "Belt and Road", the UN reform in the development field and the optimization and improvement of bilateral cooperation, participants had in-depth discussions and reached important consensus at the symposium. The two sides agreed to continue to, in the spirit of win-win cooperation, strengthen communication and coordination, support China in pursuing high-quality development and building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects, actively implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and promote the synergy and efficiency between the 2030 Agenda and the "Belt and Road", so as to make greater contributions to international development and cooperation.
