On April 10, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu met with visiting Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary A. DiCarlo. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the current international situation, regional hot-spot issues, and cooperation between China and the United Nations (UN), among others.
Ma Zhaoxu said that China is a staunch supporter of and an important contributor to the UN cause, and supports the UN in playing a positive role in promoting a political settlement of regional hot-spot issues. China is ready to constantly deepen cooperation with the UN to jointly implement the Global Security Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, and to promote the building of a human community with a shared future.
Rosemary A. DiCarlo thanked China for its consistent support and remarkable contributions to the UN, and expressed appreciation of China’s important and constructive role in mediating regional hot-spot issues. She noted that the UN is committed to promoting political settlement of disputes through dialogue, and expects to strengthen cooperation with China to jointly safeguard world peace and security.
