The 7th China-EU Cyber Taskforce was Held in Beijing

The 7th China-EU Cyber Taskforce was held on January 13th in Beijing, China. Mr. Wang Lei, Coordinator for Cyber Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and Mr. Rory DOMM, Deputy Head of Department of Security & Defence Policy of European External Action Service (EEAS), co-chaired this meeting. Delegates from relevant departments of China, Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the EU Commission and Delegation of the European Union to China attended this meeting. Observers from embassies of EU's 18 member states in Beijing were also present at the meeting.

The two sides exchanged views on issues including the overall situation in cyberspace, international rule-making processes, 5G and digital economy. They agreed that China and the EU share common interests and face common challenges in maintaining cybersecurity. This meeting was of great significance to promote mutual understanding, expand practical cooperation, move forward China-EU relationship, and enrich China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership. In this vein, both sides stand ready to strengthen dialogue and cooperation to jointly uphold peace and security in cyberspace.
