International De-mining Assistance

2011-04-07 00:00

China attaches great importance to the humanitarian concerns caused by landmines and has actively participated in international de-mining assistance. Since 1998, China has provided de-mining assistance to nearly 40 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America through financial donation, providing de-mining equipment and hosting de-mining technology training courses. It has been proved that the Chinese de-mining technology is safe and mature, and its equipment reliable and cost-effective. This has been positively acknowledged by recipient countries.

In 2010, China held humanitarian demining training courses for 45 demining personel from Sudan and Afghanistan. China also provided Peru and Ethiopia with mine victim assistance, which was the first time that China provided such kind of assistance to other countries. China also held such courses for 30 demining personnel from Sri Lanka in June, 2011. China will also hold humanitarian demining training courses for Sudan. In addition, China will provide victim assistance to Laos and D.R Congo.

China will continue to actively participate in the international humanitarian de-mining efforts and work with other countries to make its due contribution to eliminating harms caused by landmines to civilians worldwide at an early date.
