As the sole multilateral negotiating body for disarmament, the Conference on Disarmament (CD) plays an irreplaceable role in promoting the international arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation process.

China always supports and participates in the work of the CD in a positive manner, and supports the CD to advance all substantive work in a balanced way on adoption of the Program of Work by consensus. As one of the rotating CD Presidents in 2011, China conducts sufficient consultations and coordinations with concerned parties, aiming at pushing forward all substantive work as early as possible on the basis of safeguardinging the authority and the Rules of Procedure of the CD.
