2011-04-07 00:00

The Treaty on the Non-proliferation of Nuclear weapons(NPT) is the cornerstone of the international nuclear non-proliferation regime. The Treaty has played an important role in promoting peaceful use of nuclear energy. China joined the NPT in 1992. It supports the objectives and purposes of the Treaty. China believes that, under the currant situation, the international community should adhere to multilateralism, advance the three main goals of the NPT in a comprehensive and balanced manner, and seek proper and feasible measures through broad consultations in order to effectively respond to the new situation in the field of arms control and non-proliferation. China welcomes that the 2010 NPT Review Conference achieved positive outcome, and hopes that all parties make full use of the Treaty's review mechanism to further preserve and enhance the authority, effectiveness and universality of the NPT.
