On 4 April, Director General of the Protocol Department of China's Foreign Ministry Hong Lei chaired the second online briefing on COVID-19 response for diplomatic missions in China. Yang Peng, Director of the General Office of the Beijing Center for Global Health under the Beijing Center for Diseases Prevention and Control, was invited to an online exchange with envoys and diplomats from 180 foreign missions in China.

Citing specific cases and substantial data, Yang shared his assessment on the situation in Beijing, across China and globally. He explained COVID-19's transmission routes, incubation features, symptoms, testing methods and treatment solutions, and offered science-based and professional recommendations on precautions and response measures.

Hong reaffirmed China's commitment to protecting the health and safety of foreign diplomats in China and hoped that the briefing could help diplomatic missions respond to the virus in a more targeted way.

Diplomats participating in the briefing said it was informative and the science-based and professional recommendations provided would help them deal with the disease. They appreciated the Chinese side's thoughtful arrangements and show of care.
