The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Organizes Diplomatic Envoys to Visit Tianjin

On May 18 to 19, 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized diplomatic envoys to China to visit Tianjin, accompanied by Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui. Nearly 60 diplomats, including 25 ambassadors to China, from 41 countries and international organizations including the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Thailand, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, the African Union, Chile, Colombia, the Czech Republic and Samoa attended the tour.

Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Tianjin Municipal Committee Li Hongzhong and Deputy Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee and Mayor of Tianjin Liao Guoxun met with the delegation. Secretary Li Hongzhong said that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, and China's 100-year development has impressed the world. In particular, since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, China has made historic achievements in all areas of its endeavors. The Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping has paved a new path for various countries to achieve common development and prosperity. We welcome all parties to strengthen practical cooperation with Tianjin in economy, trade, culture, vocational education and other fields.

Special Representative Li Hui said that as a smart and green city, Tianjin has taken concrete actions to implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. With the approaching of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, the envoys felt Tianjin's achievements in economic and social development, ecological conservation and environmental protection, smart city construction and Belt and Road cooperation through the tour. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been actively leveraging its advantages to serve Tianjin's foreign exchanges and cooperation, and will continue to provide full support for Tianjin's development and opening-up.

During the tour, the envoys visited Tianjin Port and Luban Workshop to learn about the Belt and Road cooperation and foreign exchanges in Tianjin, visited the China-Singapore Eco-city and Great Wall Motor New Energy Vehicles to further understand Tianjin's efforts to strengthen ecological conservation and environmental protection. The envoys went to Nankai University to watch the Theme Exhibition of Nankai University (1919-2019) and feel the revolutionary spirit of Tianjin. The envoys also visited the Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall at Heping District to feel the charm of Tianjin's traditional culture. The envoys also attended the "International Forum on Urban Governance" at the 5th World Intelligence Congress to jointly discuss the urban governance model in the new era of intelligence.

The envoys spoke highly of Tianjin's achievements in economic and social development as well as in urban governance, ecological conservation and environmental protection. They said that Tianjin is an epitome of China's high-quality development. China's great achievements is attributable to the leadership of the CPC and to President Xi Jinping acting as the navigator and helmsman of the entire Party. Looking at the changes over the past century, they highly appreciate the CPC's vision and governing strategy, and are willing to learn from China's development experience. They believe that the CPC will lead China to make more achievements and make greater contribution to the world. They hope that Tianjin could strengthen exchanges and cooperation with foreign countries.
