On June 11, 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) held an event entitled "Developing China: Ambassadors Face to Face with the National Development and Reform Commission". The event was the first of a series of events of "Ambassadors Face to Face with Chinese Ministries". More than 140 foreign diplomatic corps in China attended the event, including ambassadors from 35 countries including the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Syria, South Africa, Tanzania, Cameroon, Cuba, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Finland and Iceland, 14 Chargé d'affaires a.i., and 5 representatives of international organizations in China.

Vice Chairman of the NDRC Ning Jizhe introduced China's development achievements during the 13th Five-year Plan period and its significant contributions to the world, and elaborated the core principles and major tasks of the 14th Five-year Plan and important opportunities for the world.

Ning Jizhe said, China has made brilliant achievements during the 13th Five-year Plan period and made significant contributions to the world. China is the major stabilizer and driver for the world economic growth. The core principles of the 14th Five-year Plan are to have a keen grasp of the new development stage, implement the new development philosophy, build a new development paradigm and promote high-quality development. The 14th Five-year Plan will create major opportunities for the world development. China will continue to implement the mutually beneficial and win-win open strategy, support economic globalization, promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, and keep the global industrial and supply chains smooth and stable. China will build a new system of open economy of higher standards, deliver high-quality "bringing in" and "going global", improve the quality of foreign capital and outbound investment. China will work with international and domestic friends from all walks of life to create opportunities in openness, crack problems in cooperation, and work together to create a better tomorrow. After the event, diplomatic envoys visited Beijing Daxing International Airport, and experienced the major iconic infrastructure project completed during the 13th Five-year Plan period, having a knowledge of the planning, design, construction and operation of the Airport, and experiencing the highlight of "safe, green, smart and humanistic" management. Then, they visited the Xiaomi Industrial Park in Yizhuang, and listened to how Xiaomi grows bigger and stronger, develops digital economy, and contributes to "Made in China". They also experienced the innovative products of Xiaomi.

Diplomatic envoys said, the event "Ambassadors Face to Face with Chinese Ministries" with rich contents and novel forms is helpful to comprehensively understand China. China's development achievements showcase the advantages of the CPC's leadership and the system of socialism. China's development is modernized, innovation-driven, green, sustainable and coordinated, which is a big stride in development mode. China attaches great importance to the role of the top-level design, formulates socioeconomic development plans, puts forward clear goals and concrete policies, supervises the implementation to promote national development, which is instructive for developing countries. China's development provides enormous opportunities for other countries, especially the huge potential related to Belt and Road cooperation. China's exploration has important implications for the world. China has eradicated poverty, launched large-scale infrastructure construction, and solved a series of challenges in socioeconomic development. Other countries hope to find the new answers to global challenges in achieving carbon neutrality, maintaining economic growth, and addressing aging population. They thanked the MFA and the NDRC for providing cooperation platforms for their countries, and they will take this opportunity to strengthen the comprehensive cooperation with all relevant authorities including the NDRC. Deputy Secretary General of the NDRC Su Wei, Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation of the NDRC Su Guo, and Director-General of MFA's Protocol Department Hong Lei attended relevant events.
