President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil Meets with Wang Yi

On April 26, 2014, President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil met with Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Presidential Palace in Brasília.

Rousseff said that Brazil and China are important strategic partners. The two countries enjoy high political mutual trust, remarkable achievements in mutually beneficial cooperation and broad common ground in international affairs. The Brazilian side is willing to take the opportunity of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship this year, maintaining the high-level exchanges, increasing the scale of the economic and trade exchanges, and expanding the cooperation in infrastructure construction, energy, agriculture, aviation and aerospace, scien- tech, information, education and other fields, so as to uplift the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to a new high.

Wang Yi said that in recent years, Brazil has overcome the impact of the financial crisis and achieved sustainable economic and social development, the continuous improvement of people's livelihood and the rising of the nation's international status and influences. China highly values the important position and role of Brazil. Both sides should well prepare for the high-level exchanges this year, which will provide important guidance for bilateral relations. China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership should be effectively implemented. Both sides may give full play to their complementary advantages, build a long-lasting and stable cooperative relationship in all fields from a strategic height, deepen practical cooperation and realize common prosperity. The China-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Forum should also be initiated, so as to open up new prospects for China-Latin America relations. The two sides should work together for the success of the sixth Summit of BRICS Countries in Brazil this year to highlight the solidarity, development and cooperation among BRICS countries.
