Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu Visits Brazil

From October 14 to 15, 2019, Vice Foreign Minister and the Chinese side’s Sherpa for BRICS Affairs Ma Zhaoxu visited Brazil. He held talks with Norberto Moretti, Deputy Foreign Minister of Brazil and Sherpa for BRICS Affairs, exchanging in-depth views on Brazil’s hosting of the 11th BRICS Summit and other topics.

Ma Zhaoxu said, China and Brazil, both major developing countries and emerging markets, are each other's comprehensive strategic partners and maintain sound coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs. In mid-November, Brazil will host the 11th BRICS Summit in Brasilia. The Chinese side will fully support the Brazilian side’s work as the BRICS Chair, and work together to promote the Brasilia Summit to send a positive signal of strengthening the BRICS solidarity and collaboration, jointly upholding multilateralism and the multilateral trade system, and deepening practical cooperation in all areas, so as to inject positive energy into the international community.

Norberto Moretti said, the Brazilian side attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with the Chinese side and is ready to work with the Chinese side to continuously deepen bilateral relations and practical cooperation. The Brazilian side thanks the Chinese side for its strong support for hosting the Brasilia Summit and will maintain close communication and coordination with the Chinese side to jointly push the Brasilia Summit for positive results.
