Hu Jintao Exchanges Congratulatory Messages with His Costa Rican Counterpart to Mark the Fifth Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Ties between the Two Countries

On June 1, 2012, Chinese President Hu Jintao exchanged congratulatory messages with his Costa Rican counterpart, Laura Chinchilla, to mark the fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Hu said the relationship between China and Costa Rica has been developing steadily over the past five years thanks to joint efforts. High-level exchange of visits has been frequent and political mutual trust has been strengthened, Hu said. China attaches great importance to advancing ties with Costa Rica, and is ready to work with the Latin American country and take the opportunity of the fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties to promote mutual understanding, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas and push the friendly cooperative ties with Costa Rica to a new stage, he added.

Chinchilla said in her message that Costa Rica-China relations have been developing smoothly over the past five years. The two sides have continued to strengthen mutual understanding, dialogue and cooperation, and achieved fruitful results. This fully demonstrates that the two countries attach great importance to the development of their relations in various fields. On the same day, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi also exchanged congratulatory messages with his Costa Rican counterpart, Enrique Castillo, on the occasion.
