On June 5, 2018, Director-General of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zhao Bentang gave a lecture at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese of Beijing Foreign Studies University. He introduced the situation in Latin America and China-Latin America relations and had warm interactions with more than 70 teachers and students present on topics including China-Latin America people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The activity proceeded in a warm atmosphere.

To enhance the understanding of teachers and students on China's foreign policies towards Latin America and relevant diplomatic achievements since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs has launched a series of public diplomacy activities on "Foreign Policies towards Latin America Entering Universities" since this year, with Beijing Foreign Studies University as its first stop.
