Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of Foreign Ministry Cui Aimin Attends Inauguration of Chile's Consulate General in Chengdu

On July 8, 2021, the Consulate General of Chile in Chengdu was officially inaugurated, and it was jointly unveiled by Vice Governor of Sichuan Province Chen Wei, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of Foreign Ministry Cui Aimin, Chilean Ambassador to China Luis Schmidt Montes, and Consul General of Chile in Chengdu Gustavo Díaz.

In his remarks, Ambassador Schmidt speaks highly of the friendship and cooperation between Chile and China, thanks China's strong assistance for Chile to open a new Consulate General in Chengdu, and hopes the establishment of the Consulate General in Chengdu will help promote exchanges and cooperation between Chile and Sichuan Province as well as surrounding provinces, and push bilateral relations forward.

Director-General Cui Aimin expressed on behalf of the Foreign Ministry, Chile has ranked front among Latin American countries in developing relations with China for a long term. Under the guidance of the two heads of state, the China-Chile comprehensive strategic partnership has been growing with positive progress in practical cooperation. The Consulate General of Chile in Chengdu is the first consular office of Latin American countries in Chengdu. It will surely enhance exchanges and cooperation between local governments, and improve Chile's consular service in China. The Foreign Ministry will provide convenience and assistance for the work of Chile's Consulate General in Chengdu.

Vice Governor Chen Wei expressed, the Consulate General of Chile in Chengdu will serve as a new bridge deepening the friendship between Chile and West China. Sichuan Province is willing to work with Chile to take the opening of the Consulate General as an opportunity to close cooperation in all fields, and work for solid and steady growth of China-Chile relations.
