Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng Attends the Farewell Reception for Mexican Ambassador to China by Delivering a Video Speech

On August 16, 2021, Mexican Ambassador to China José Luis Bernal held a farewell reception. Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng attended the reception by delivering a video speech.

Xie Feng said in his speech that over the past four years, China-Mexico relations have kept growing at a high level, with fruitful cooperation in various fields and a deepening friendship between the two peoples. September 16 marks the 200th anniversary of victory in the Mexican War of Independence, and China would like to extend its warm congratulations to Mexico and sincerely wishes the country new achievements on the path of national development. Since holding the rotating presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), Mexico has made unremitting efforts to push for continuous positive outcomes of the China-CELAC Forum and enhance the overall cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean States. China wishes this year's CELAC Summit and the Third Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum a complete success.

Xie Feng stressed that next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico, and that China is willing to work with Mexico to continuously raise relations between the two countries to a new level. Xie Feng also thanked Bernal for his contribution to the China-Mexico friendship, and wishes him new achievements in his new position.

Bernal was deeply moved by the video especially recorded by Xie Feng, thanked the Chinese side for the special arrangement, and said that China is a good friend and good partner of Mexico, and the two countries have a broad prospect of cooperation, and that he is willing to continue to work for Mexico-China friendship.

The atmosphere at the reception was warm and friendly, and the guests listened to and commented positively on Xie Feng's speech.

Before the reception, Director-General of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Cai Wei held a small-range talk with Bernal and provided him with the video of Vice Minister Xie's speech. The two sides also exchanged views on China-Mexico relations and cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
