On January 18, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu met with Cuban Ambassador to China Carlos Miguel Pereira, and exchanged views on China-Cuba relations and others.

Ma Zhaoxu said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Miguel Diaz-Canel, China-Cuba friendly relations have been continuously deepened. China is ready to work with Cuba to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen political mutual trust, promote practical cooperation, and strengthen multilateral coordination, so as to push for greater development of China-Cuba relations.

Pereira made positive comments on the friendly relations between Cuba and China, saying that Cuba attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and stands ready to make joint efforts with China to further enhance high-level exchanges, and promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields, so as to make positive contributions to deepening Cuba-China relations.
