The Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Holds a Briefing for Chinese Media on Consular Work

On January 17, 2020, the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry held a briefing for Chinese media on consular work in 2019. Over 20 Chinese mainstream media were present, including People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency and China Central Television.

Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Cui Aimin, taking public service videos on consular protection as a starting point, introduced the concept of diplomacy for the people, and mainly briefed on the important developments and latest initiatives of consular work in 2019 in such fields as maintaining safety and legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese citizens and enterprises, promoting Chinese and foreign personnel exchanges and facilitation, deepening the reform of delegating power, strengthening regulation and improving services of consular certificates, and enhancing the level of Internet Plus government services, with consular information and services being available from online platforms. Cui Aimin also looked into the key direction of consular work in 2020.

After the briefing, Director-General Cui Aimin also gave exclusive interviews to China Central Television, Beijing TV, Phoenix Satellite TV and other media.
