On February 9, 2023, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Xi met with Principal Immigration Officer of the Beijing Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Au Yeung Chi-wai (outgoing) and Wong Ki (designate). Wu Xi thanked Au Yeung Chi-wai for his support for consular work during his tenure, and welcomed Wong Ki to take office. Wu Xi introduced Hong Kong-related policies in light of the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and exchanged views on Hong Kong-related consular protection and assistance, visa issuance and the annual exchange mechanism of consular work, among other topics.
