On February 24, 2023, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Xi met at request with Vietnamese Consul General in Kunming Hoàng Minh Sơn, Vietnamese Consul General in Hong Kong Phạm Bình Đàm, Vietnamese Consul General in Shanghai Nguyen The Tung, and Vietnamese Consul General in Nanning Do Nam Trung. Wu Xi briefed mainly on the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping's recent important speech on "correctly understanding and vigorously advancing Chinese modernization". she said that the consular work has been committed to a people-centered development philosophy, in its effort to coordinate the pandemic response and economic and social development in a highly efficient manner, constantly strengthen consular protection overseas, and improve the level of consular services, and others. Wu Xi said that the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry is ready to work with the Vietnamese Embassy and Consulates General in China to well implement the common understandings of the leaders of the two countries, deepen bilateral cooperation at sub-national level, and boost the development of bilateral relations. Vietnamese Consuls General highly praised the tremendous achievements made in national development under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. They expressed that they would contribute to exchanges and cooperation between Vietnam and the relevant Consular Districts. The two sides also exchanged views on specific consular issues.
