On March 30, 2023, Director-General Wu Xi of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry met at request with Chilean Ambassador to China Rene Mauricio Hurtado Navia. Wu Xi expounded the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and China’s “two sessions”, and briefed on China’s recent measures to optimize the pandemic response and facilitate personnel exchanges. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on China-Chile consular relations and agreed to further strengthen cooperation, improve the facilitation of personnel exchanges, and contribute to the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Chile.
