On April 12, 2023, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Xi met with Ambassador of the Philippines to China Jaime A. FlorCruz at the latter’s request. Wu Xi expounded on the major decisions made at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and China's Two Sessions, and briefed him on China's recent optimization and adjustment of COVID-19 response measures and the measures to facilitate cross-border travels. The two sides exchanged views on further strengthening consular cooperation, improving the facilitation of cross-border travels, protection of the safety and security as well as legitimate rights and interests of their respective countries’ nationals and institutions, and other issues.
