On July 29, 2022, External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping met with Syria's new Ambassador to China Mhd. Hasanein Khaddam at the latter's request. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, counter-terrorism and security cooperation between the two countries and other issues.
