On December 16, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng met with Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna and Executive Director of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Ghada Fathi Waly via video link. The two sides exchanged views on global anti-corruption governance and strengthening bilateral cooperation.

After briefing on the spirit of the sixth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC, Xie Feng said, since the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has secured a sweeping victory in the fight against corruption and this momentum has been consolidated across the board. The achievement has attracted worldwide attention. Strengthening global cooperation against corruption is an important part of building a community with a shared future for mankind The international community needs to act on the principle of achieving shared growth through consultation and collaboration, practice true multilateralism and jointly advance global anti-corruption governance. China appreciates the role of the UNODC in promoting international cooperation against corruption, addressing world drug problems and cross-border crimes as well as other fields. China is willing to work with the UNODC to deepen cooperation, promote international drug control and crime-fighting, and advance the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Waly appreciates China's firm practice of multilateralism, active efforts to promote international cooperation against corruption, and proposal of the Global Development Initiative. Waly said, only by upholding multilateralism and strengthening international cooperation can we effectively address the challenges brought by corruption, drugs and crimes. Waly thanks China for its long-term support for the UNODC, and stands ready to enhance cooperation with China.
