On April 29, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li held a China-Germany Political Consultation at Vice Foreign Ministerial Level with State Secretary of the German Foreign Ministry Andreas Michaelis via video link.

Deng Li said that since the establishment of the new German government, the two countries have maintained a good momentum of high-level exchanges, charting the course for the development of bilateral relations and deepening practical cooperation in various fields. The two sides should take the opportunity of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany, fully leverage the role of nearly 70 China-Germany dialogue mechanisms such as China-Germany inter-governmental consultation, improve policy coordination on economy, climate, energy, food security and other issues, strengthen cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels, and continuously promote the all-round strategic partnership between China and Germany to new levels. China welcomes Germany's active participation in the Global Security Initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping recently, jointly injecting more stability into the complex world.

Michaelis said, Germany attaches importance to China's position as a major country and global influence. The new German government is willing to actively develop relations with China and continue to expand bilateral dialogue and cooperation in various fields. Given the profound evolution of the international landscape, Germany and China should strengthen exchanges and cooperation in macroeconomic policy, environmental and climate protection, energy transition, food security and other fields. Germany attaches great importance to the Global Security Initiative put forward by China and is ready to work with China to jointly address global challenges.

The two sides also exchanged views on China-EU relations, China-Germany-Africa trilateral cooperation and the situation in Ukraine.
