Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun Holds Consultation with Secretary General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mauritania

On December 24, 2007, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun and the visiting secretary general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mauritania held the political consultation between the two Foreign Ministries.

Zhai spoke highly of bilateral friendly relations, expressing thanks for Mauritania's persistent adherence to the one-China policy. Zhai said China is ready to increase political trust between the two countries, deepen bilateral economic and trade cooperation of mutual benefits, keep closer coordination in international affairs and strengthen collaboration under the frameworks such as Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and China-Arab forum.

The secretary general noted that Mauritania is satisfied with the sound development of bilateral ties and is ready to further strengthen friendly cooperation with China in all areas. The Mauritanian government will continue to adhere to the one-China policy and support China's reunification.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
