Wu Sike said that the continued escalation of the Israel-Palestine conflict has resulted in heavy casualties. The Chinese side is deeply grieved and concerned over this. The Chinese side condemns all actions leading to civilian casualties and believes that the priority now is to promote relevant parties from both Israel and Palestine to cease fire as early as possible. The Chinese side welcomes and supports the cease-fire initiative put forward by Egypt and urges all relevant parties from both Israel and Palestine to focus on the safety of the two peoples and the overall situation of regional peace and stability, to actively cooperate with and respond to the cease-fire initiative and the mediation efforts of the international community, and to cease fire immediately. The international community should also have a greater sense of urgency and take necessary measures immediately. The Palestinian issue is the core of the Middle East issue. The Chinese side has always firmly supported the just cause of the Palestinian people and will continue to work with the international community to make efforts to realize cease-fire between Israel and Palestine as soon as possible and promote a fair and reasonable settlement to the Palestinian issue.

Wu Sike said that terrorism is the common enemy of mankind. The Chinese side supports Iraq to fight against terrorism and its efforts to safeguard national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and hopes that Iraq will form an inclusive government as soon as possible, promote the process of political settlement and restore peace and stability at an early date.

In terms of China's policy on the Middle East, Wu Sike said that the Chinese side supports the countries and peoples of this region to independently explore the political system and development path suitable to their own national conditions, encourages all relevant parties to resolve divergences through inclusive dialogue under the frameworks of the UN Charter and the basic norms governing international relations and calls on the international community to support the economic and social development in this region and lay a solid foundation for the long-term peace and stability of this region.

The common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable Asian security concept as well as the initiative of the joint construction of "One Belt One Road" by China and the Arab countries put forward by China, are the new efforts made by China to promote international peace and stability, expand China-Arab practical cooperation and deepen the bilateral strategic cooperative relations. As a strategic cooperative partner of the Arab countries, the Chinese side will always consider the promotion of peace, stability and development in the Middle East as the starting point and foothold of China's Middle East policy.
