Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping Chairs Second Round of China-Turkey Counter-terrorism Consultation at Vice Ministerial Level

On March 17, 2015, Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping, together with Deputy Under-secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Űmit Yalçin of Turkey, chaired the second round of China-Turkey Counter-terrorism Consultation at vice ministerial level in Beijing, mainly exchanging views on issues such as China-Turkey relations and bilateral cooperation in counter-terrorism.

Cheng Guoping said that the China-Turkey relations maintain an overall development momentum in recent years. China is ready to work with Turkey to intensify political mutual trust, deepen cooperation in economy and trade, boost people-to-people and cultural exchanges, enhance communication and coordination in international and regional affairs, and promote China-Turkey strategic cooperative relationship for in-depth development. As the counter-terrorism situation in the international community now is becoming increasingly severe, China and Turkey should further intensify cooperation in counter-terrorism and security and safeguard the security interests of both sides.

Űmit Yalçin noted that the Turkish government attaches great importance to its relations with China. Both sides should boost communication and dialogues at various levels, advance practical cooperation in various fields, and constantly enrich the connotation of bilateral strategic cooperative relationship. Turkey is willing to work with China to strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism and security and address the threats of terrorism together.
