China and Japan Holds the Dialogue Between the Heads of the Delegations of High-level Consultations on Maritime Affairs

On July 31, 2020, Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Hong Liang and Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shigeki Takizaki of Japan co-chaired the dialogue between the heads of the delegations of China-Japan high-level consultations on maritime affairs via videolink.

The two sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on maritime issues and emphasized that both countries should fully implement the consensuses reached between the leaders of the two countries, so as to jointly maintain the stability and tranquility in the East China Sea and make it a sea of peace, cooperation and friendship. The two sides also noted that they will strengthen communication through bilateral channels such as high-level consultations on maritime affairs between China and Japan, constructively manage differences, properly handle relevant issues, and actively promote maritime exchanges and cooperation.
