On December 13, 2016, Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin held the meeting of China-Cambodia Intergovernmental Coordination Committee at secretary-general level with Secretary of State for the Ministry of Economy and Finance Vongsey Vissoth of Cambodia.

Liu Zhenmin said that since the third meeting of China-Cambodia Intergovernmental Coordination Committee held at the start of this year, bilateral relations have made new substantial development. President Xi Jinping's state visit to Cambodia achieved complete success, and King Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Sen respectively visited or attended multilateral activities in China. The leaders of both countries have reached important consensus on pushing forward China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic cooperation in the new situation. China is willing to work with Cambodia to make good use of the mechanism of the meeting of China-Cambodia Intergovernmental Coordination Committee at secretary-general level, completely review the development of China-Cambodia relations, as well as deeply implement the high-level consensus reached by the two sides, especially the outcomes of President Xi Jinping's visit to Cambodia, so as to well prepare for the meeting of Intergovernmental Coordination Committee, and make positive contributions to advancing China-Cambodia relations in the new era.

Vongsey Vissoth said that Cambodia and China enjoy profound traditional friendship and fruitful achievements from bilateral cooperation. The Cambodian side attaches great importance to Cambodia-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and will continue to uphold and consolidate Cambodia-China friendship. Through the Intergovernmental Coordination Committee, Cambodia will strengthen coordination, implement high-level consensus reached by the two sides, and deepen pragmatic cooperation with China, so as to elevate Cambodia-China relations to a new high.
