Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi Attends a New Book Launch Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Columbia Diplomatic Ties

On October 19, 2021, Special  Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi  attended upon invitation the launch of a new book, "Chiribiquete Mountains:  World Cultural and Natural Heritage" commemorating the 40th anniversary of the  establishment of China-Columbia diplomatic ties hosted by the Embassy of the  Republic of Columbia in China.

In his speech, Qiu Xiaoqi spoke  highly of bilateral relations and said that this book is a witness of Columbia's  civilization origins and long history, and the remarkable contribution that  Columbia has made for biodiversity protection. Recently, President Xi Jinping  delivered an important speech at the Conference of the Parties to the Convention  on Biological Diversity to share China's wisdom for the global commitment to  biodiversity protection. China is ready to work with the international community  including Columbia to focus on the Global Development Initiative proposed by  President Xi, speed up the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable  Development, tackle challenges together, facilitate post-pandemic recovery, and  better benefit the two peoples.

Colombian Ambassador to China  Luis Diego Monsalve said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties,  Columbia and China have witnessed steady and sound development of bilateral  relations and broad prospects of cooperation in politics, economy and trade,  people-to-people exchanges, environmental protection and other fields. Columbia  is willing to work with China to enhance high-level exchanges, deepen  cooperation in various fields, and make new progress in Columbia-China relations  constantly.
