On October 20, 2021, the Tenth  Meeting of China-Africa Think Tanks Forum kicked off in Hangzhou. Assistant  Foreign Minister Deng Li delivered a video speech. Deng Li said, China and Africa  are a community with a shared future and take the lead in advancing the building  of the community with a shared future for mankind. In the new era, China and  Africa are partners for cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. At the  2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), President  Xi Jinping proposed to build a China-Africa community with a shared future that  features "joint responsibility, win-win cooperation, happiness for all, common  cultural prosperity, common security, and harmony between man and nature", which  highly summarizes the distinctive feature of China-Africa traditional  friendship, the features of China-Africa friendly and mutually beneficial  cooperation in the new era, and elevates China-Africa relations to a new  height.

Deng Li pointed out, under the  current circumstances, China and African countries need solidarity and  cooperation more than ever. The Eighth FOCAC Ministerial Conference will be held  in the African co-chair Senegal this year. China and Africa will consolidate  consensus, strengthen cooperation, focus on major fields such as health,  investment, trade, industrialization, agricultural modernization, climate change  response, and digital economy, promote the transformation and upgrading of  China-Africa cooperation, and blaze a sustainable path, facilitating the  economic development of Africa, China and the world in the post-pandemic  period.

Deng Li encourages experts and  scholars present to fully leverage their strengths and offer insights and wisdom  support based on actual needs of the development of China-Africa relations. They  should strengthen the overall and prospective study on China-Africa relations,  think creatively, deeply study practical issues in a down-to-earth manner, tap  new highlights and new growth drivers in China-Africa cooperation, and offer  more policy suggestions. In addition, they should share the stories of  China-Africa friendship with the people of Africa, China, and the world, and  enhance understanding and recognition between China and Africa.

The China-Africa Think Tanks  Forum, an important thematic forum of the FOCAC, has been held for nine times  since its inception in 2011. Themed with "Strengthening Solidarity and  Cooperation, Enhancing Innovation and Development to Build Together a  China-Africa Community with a Shared Future", the meeting was hosted by the  Secretariat of the Chinese Follow-Up Committee of FOCAC and jointly organized by  the Department of Foreign Affairs of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government,  Zhejiang Normal University, and Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar,  Senegal.
