On December 4, 2021, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong attended upon invitation the Thai National Day Reception to extend congratulations on the National Day of Thailand.

Liu Jinsong said, China attaches great importance to China-Thailand relations. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two countries have provided assistance to each other, which vividly embodies the profound friendship between China and Thailand as one family. China will continue to support Thailand's fight against the pandemic by providing vaccines and other means. With a view to recovering from COVID-19, Thailand has proposed the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economic model, which is in line with President Xi Jinping's notion that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets". China is ready to strengthen cooperation with Thailand on sustainable development, economic recovery and infrastructure construction, jointly advance the construction of the China-Thailand railway, and realize the early connection with the China-Laos railway opened yesterday to benefit the people along the route. China supports the synergy of the Belt and Road Initiative and Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor. China hopes to work with Thailand to advance the Global Development Initiative. Thailand will take over as the host country of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) next year. China is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with Thailand and actively build an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future.

Ambassador Arthayudh Srisamoot said that Thailand-China relations have a history of 700 years and the friendship between the two countries is deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, China has offered its utmost assistance to Thailand, which demonstrated with concrete actions that China and Thailand are one family. This is admirable and touching. In his speech at the reception, Ambassador Arthayudh thanked China for firmly fulfilling its commitment to making COVID-19 vaccines a global public good. He said that Thailand is committed to achieving inclusive, low-carbon and resilient growth, which is in line with the Global Development Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping. Thailand hopes to strengthen cooperation with China in such fields as green economy, digital economy and connectivity to promote the coordinated development of the two countries and the region. As the host country of APEC next year, Thailand supports China in continuing to play a constructive role and stands ready to work with China to build an "open, connected and balanced" Asia-Pacific community. Thailand also welcomes China's new contributions to China-ASEAN and Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.

Liu Jinsong delivered in person and introduced the white paper titled "China: Democracy That Works" released by the State Council Information Office on the same day to Ambassador Arthayudh.
