Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng Meets with New SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming

On January 25, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng met with Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Zhang Ming (Chinese nationality). The two sides exchanged views on the development of the SCO and other issues.

Le Yucheng congratulated Zhang Ming on taking up his new post and said that at present, the development of the SCO is facing new opportunities. All parties look forward to working with the Secretariat to carry forward the "Shanghai Spirit", implement the consensus among the heads of states of the SCO members, enhance solidarity and mutual trust, deepen exchanges and cooperation in fields such as security and economy, as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to create more benefits for the people of regional countries. As the host country of the Secretariat, China stands ready to continue to actively support the work of the Secretary-General and the Secretariat, and contribute to the further development of the SCO.

Zhang Ming thanked China for its strong support to the work of the Secretariat, and said that the Secretariat will conscientiously perform its duties, strengthen communication and coordination with member states, earnestly implement the consensus among the leaders of all member states, expand cooperation in various fields, and maintain the good development momentum of the SCO.
