Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs Ambasssador Liu Xiaoming Speaks with Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs of MOFA ROK Mr. Noh Kyu-duk

On February 18, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs Ambassador Liu Xiaoming had a telephone conversation with Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs of MOFA ROK Mr. Noh Kyu-duk.

Mr. Noh briefed Ambassador Liu on ROK’s recent efforts on Korean Peninsula issues, and expressed his country’s willingness to enhance communication and cooperation with China for managing the situation on the Peninsula and restarting the dialogue at an early date.

Ambassador Liu recognized ROK’s efforts, saying that he is willing to keep in contact and coordination with his ROK counterpart. He stressed that relevant parties should respond to those denuclearization measures taken by the DPRK, address the DPRK’s legitimate and reasonable concerns with greater attention, so as to create conditions for restarting the dialogue. He reaffirmed that China supports both sides on the Korean Peninsula in improving relations and bringing about conciliation and cooperation.
