On March 17, 2022, Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Affairs of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Xue Bing visited Somalia and met with Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble and Foreign Minister Abdisaid Muse Ali, respectively. Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Fei Shengchao attended relevant activities.

Special Envoy Xue Bing said, the "Initiative of Peaceful Development in the Horn of Africa" proposed by China is aimed at supporting regional countries in independently coping with the triple challenges of security, development and governance, so as to realize long-term peace and stability, development and prosperity. The initiative has received warm responses from regional countries. China is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with regional countries including Somalia on the implementation of the initiative.

The Somali side expressed support and appreciation for the initiative put forward by China, saying that Somalia stands ready to take an active part in implementing the initiative and expects China to play a more active and constructive role in regional peace and security affairs.
