On 12 April, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs Liu Xiaoming met with Philippe Errera, Director General for Political and Security Affairs at the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs in Paris. The two sides exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Liu Xiaoming elaborated on China's position on the Korean Peninsula and underscored that relevant parties should stay cool-headed, exercise restraint and avoid actions that could escalate tensions. He hoped that France will hold an objective and impartial position and play a positive role for the political settlement of the Peninsula issue.
