China and Nepal Hold Consultation on Boundary Affairs at the Director-General Level

On July 14, 2022, Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Hong Liang and Head of North East Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal Lok Bahadur Thapa co-chaired a consultation on boundary affairs at the director-general level between China and Nepal via video link.

The meeting was held in a friendly and pragmatic atmosphere. Both sides positively evaluated the achievements of border cooperation between China and Nepal, emphasizing that the border is a bond of friendship and a bridge for cooperation between China and Nepal and has made important contributions to the development of bilateral relations. The two sides exchanged in-depth views and reached broad consensuses on promoting the implementation of the Agreement between China and Nepal on Boundary Management System, preparing for the establishment of a joint committee on border issues, establishing a joint prevention and control mechanism for the pandemic at the border, improving the capacity of cargo clearance at ports, promoting joint inspection at the border and other issues. Both sides expressed willingness to continue to maintain communication and deepen relevant cooperation.
