On January 17, 2023, the Seventh BRICS Foreign Policy Planning Dialogue was held via video link. Director-General of the Department of Policy Planning of the Foreign Ministry Miao Deyu chaired the Dialogue and it was attended by officials in charge of the policy planning departments of the foreign ministries of Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa. All participants  had an in-depth exchange of views on the international situation, global governance, BRICS cooperation and foreign policy planning, among other topics.

Director-General Miao Deyu briefed on the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and China's foreign policies, stressing that China has always been committed to its foreign policy goals of upholding world peace and promoting common development, and it is dedicated to promoting a human community with a shared future. In the face of turbulence and changes in the international situation, BRICS countries should implement the common understandings reached among their leaders, uphold true multilateralism, enhance communication, coordination and cooperation in various fields, and make greater contributions to world stability and prosperity. All participants spoke highly of the fruitful outcomes of the BRICS China Year, and agreed to strengthen communication and exchanges among the foreign policy planning departments of BRICS countries, so as to contribute to deepening BRICS cooperation.
