Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu Meets with Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization Daren Tang

On April 28, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu met with Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Daren Tang, and exchanged views on China-WIPO cooperation, global intellectual property rights (IPR) governance, and other issues.

Ma Zhaoxu said that China values the important role of WIPO in such fields as maintaining the global innovation ecosystem and promoting economic globalization. China is ready to take the 50th anniversary of bilateral cooperation as a new starting point to strengthen strategic coordination with WIPO, jointly advance international cooperation in innovation, and promote the building of a human community with a shared future.

Daren Tang thanked China’s support for the WIPO, appreciated China for its achievements in and contributions to such fields as IPR protection and development and global IPR governance, and expressed his expectations to deepen practical cooperation with China.

The two sides jointly signed a letter of intent on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and WIPO.
