On May 24, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li and Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Mashego-Dlamini held in Beijing the 12th China-South Africa Strategic Dialogue.

Deng Li said that under the personal care and guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Cyril Ramaphosa, China-South Africa comprehensive strategic partnership has maintained strong development momentum. China is ready to work with South Africa to jointly follow through on important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, and take the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Africa and the BRICS Year of South Africa as an opportunity to deepen strategic mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, strengthen coordination and cooperation in multilateral fields, jointly build a high-level community with a shared future, and continue to promote China-Africa relations and South-South cooperation.

Mashego-Dlamini said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 25 years ago, the development of South Africa-China relations has made great progress, and the 10 Years Strategic Program on Cooperation between South Africa and China has been well implemented. South Africa is ready to work with China to enhance exchanges at all levels, deepen cooperation in trade and investment, strengthen solidarity and coordination, and jointly elevate South Africa-China relations, Africa-China relations and BRICS cooperation to a new level.

The two sides also exchanged views on China-Africa cooperation, the situation in Africa, and international and regional issues of mutual interest and concern.
