Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Xi Holds Talks with Representatives of Consular Corps of Foreign Countries in Shanghai

On May 30, 2023, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Xi had exchanges and talks in Shanghai with Consuls General of 25 countries in Shanghai.

Director-General Wu Xi spoke highly of the role played by Consulates General of all the countries in Shanghai as a bridge in promoting sub-national exchanges and cooperation between relevant countries and China. She said that China is committed to promoting high-standard opening up, and advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization, which will provide all countries around the world with more opportunities for cooperation. Wu Xi mainly introduced recent measures to facilitate personnel exchanges between China and other countries, efforts to safeguard the safety of Chinese citizens overseas, and the situation of increasing the level of consular services and developing consular cooperation between China and other countries.

Head of the Consular Corps and Consul General of Fiji in Shanghai, among others, made remarks, saying that the Consulates General of all countries in Shanghai will deeply promote friendly exchanges between the sending States and China, constantly strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides in various fields, and share development opportunities brought by Chinese modernization.

Director-General Wu Xi also took consular questions concerned by Consuls General present.
