China and Russia Hold First Consultation on Northeast Asia Security

On April 23, 2015, the first China-Russia consultation on Northeast Asia security was held in Shanghai. The consultation was co-chaired by Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jianchao and Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov of Russia, and attended by officials from such departments as foreign affairs, national defense and security of the two countries. China and Russia exchanged broad views on the security situation in Northeast Asia, conducted in-depth communication on relevant factors that might affect security in the region, and reached an extensive consensus through active and candid consultation. Both sides expressed their willingness to further strengthen dialogue and communication and enhance coordination and cooperation in the spirit of the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between the two countries, so as to jointly safeguard peace, stability and security in Northeast Asia.
