China's Special Envoy on the Middle East Issue Gong Xiaosheng Visits Palestine

On January 31, 2016, Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah of Palestine met in Ramallah with China's Special Envoy on the Middle East Issue Gong Xiaosheng. Charge d' Affaires ad Interim Qian Wei of Chinese Office in Palestine attended the meeting.

Special Envoy Gong Xiaosheng briefed Rami Hamdallah on President Xi Jinping's visits to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran and the Arab League headquarters, and exchanged views with him on the Palestinian issue and others.

Rami Hamdallah expressed that President Xi Jinping's recent visits to the three countries of the Middle East show that China attaches great importance to developing relations with the whole Middle East, which is of far-reaching historic significance. Palestine appreciates that China always upholds a just stance on the Palestinian issue and is grateful for China's efforts to improve the humanitarian situation in Palestine and expects China to play a greater role in promoting the peace process of the Middle East.

   

During his visit, Special Envoy Gong Xiaosheng also met with Palestinian officials including Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat, Minister for Arabian Relations and Chinese Affairs Ghazi of Fatah, Minister for Foreign Affairs Nabil Shaath of Fatah and Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki.
