Special Envoy on the Afghan Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Deng Xijun Attends Consultation on Afghan Issue among Countries in the Region

On April 14, 2017, the consultation on the Afghan issue among countries in the region was held by Russia in Moscow. Countries including China, Pakistan, India, Iran, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrghyzstan and Turkmenistan sent representatives to attend the consultation, and Special Envoy on the Afghan Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Deng Xijun was present at invitation. All attending parties mainly exchanged views on the current security situation in Afghanistan, the reconciliation process and other issues.

China reiterated the principles and stance on the reconciliation issue in Afghanistan, pointed out that the peace and stability of Afghanistan are of great significance to the security, development and prosperity of neighbouring countries and the region, called on all relevant parties to maintain patience and confidence, and continuously push forward the inclusive political reconciliation process featuring "Afghan-led and Afghan-owned. China is willing to constantly provide supports for the reconciliation process of Afghanistan.
