Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin Meets with ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee and His Delegation

On June 19, 2017, Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin met with the delegation of senior educational officials from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries headed by ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee.

Liu Zhenmin welcomed Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee and his delegation to visit China, and expressed that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the ASEAN, as well as the China-ASEAN Tourism Year. Both sides shall be committed to forging people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation into the new pillar for bilateral relations while well implementing the China-ASEAN "2+7 cooperation framework". China stands ready to enhance cooperation with the ASEAN to further facilitate bilateral people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation.

Highly appraising the cooperation outcomes made by the two sides in areas of social and people-to-people and cultural engagement, Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee commended China for its active efforts to this end, and expressed that the ASEAN Secretariat is willing to continuously intensify communication and coordination with China to make new contributions to promoting bilateral social and people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation.
