China and Pakistan Hold the Third Round of Dialogue on Maritime Cooperation

On August 16, 2018, the third round of China-Pakistan dialogue on maritime cooperation was held in Beijing. Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Jianghao and Additional Secretary for Asian and Pacific Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Imtiaz Ahmed of Pakistan co-chaired the dialogue. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on maritime security situation and respective maritime policies of the two countries and reviewed the progress the two countries have made in maritime cooperation in recent years. The two sides agreed to continue to intensify policy communication and coordination, expand exchanges of navy and coast guard and practical cooperation in such fields as port construction, marine science and technology as well as maritime search and rescue between the two countries, and strengthen coordination and cooperation in sea-related multilateral affairs, so as to promote common security and prosperity of the two countries and the region.
