On November 30, 2018, Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng held discussions with some deputies of the National People's Congress (NPC) and members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), who came to study in the Foreign Ministry upon invitation. Deputies and members from Beijing, Hebei, Hubei, Guangdong, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou and other places attended the discussion. Le Yucheng introduced the current international situation and diplomatic work. Director-General of the General Office Han Zhiqiang briefed the processing of deputies' suggestions and members' proposals. The deputies and members spoke up actively. They expressed that they felt heartened by the historic achievements of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in recent years, fully recognized the Foreign Ministry's work on handling suggestions and proposals, and put forward suggestions concerning the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, parliamentary diplomacy, people-to-people diplomacy, foreign agricultural cooperation, overseas interests protection, international law and other work.

Le Yucheng listened to the speeches carefully and communicated with the deputies and members. He expressed that it is the due responsibility of the Foreign Ministry to well handle the proposals and be subject to the supervision of the deputies and members. He hoped to hear more opinions and suggestions of the deputies and members, so as to better understand people's conditions and public opinions and to constantly improve the work performance of the Foreign Ministry.

Le Yucheng stressed that the current world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century. We should follow the guidance of Xi Jinping's thought on diplomacy in conducting China's diplomacy. We should keep in mind both our domestic and international imperatives, focus on the overriding goal of national rejuvenation and human progress, promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and be firm in safeguarding China's sovereignty, security and development interests. The Foreign Ministry will take the opinions and expectations of the deputies and members as the spur and driving force, and redouble its efforts to make new accomplishments and present a new look of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

The deputies and members also visited the Foreign Ministry's Global Emergency Call Center for Consular Protection and Services and observed the regular press conference of the Foreign Ministry on November 30.
