Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang Jun Holds Talks with Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana

On January 14, 2019, Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang Jun held talks with newly-appointed Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, who was visiting China upon invitation.

Zhang Jun expressed that as the most important cooperation platform of the UN in the Asia-Pacific region, the UN ESCAP should play a positive role in adhering to multilateralism, enhancing connectivity, building an open Asia-Pacific economy and other fields. The Chinese side is willing to, together with the UN ESCAP, advance cooperation in areas including the Belt and Road Initiative in an in-depth manner. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana thanked the Chinese side for supporting the UN ESCAP and her, and expressed the willingness to deepen cooperation with the Chinese side in such fields as the Belt and Road Initiative and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in a bid to promote the common development of regional countries.
