Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou Meets with Newly-appointed Indian Ambassador to China Vikram Misri

On January 22, 2019, Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou met with newly-appointed Indian Ambassador to China Vikram Misri.

Kong Xuanyou welcomed Ambassador Vikram Misri to assume his new post in China, and expressed that the informal meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Wuhan has charted the course and opened up broad prospects for the development of China-India relations. The two sides should maintain strategic communication, strengthen high-level exchanges, advance institutional dialogues in various fields, strengthen cooperation in economy, trade, energy and people-to-people and cultural engagement, properly handle differences and sensitive issues, enhance communication and coordination on international and regional issues, and implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries in a down-to-earth manner in a bid to push China-India relations for constant and forward-looking development.

Vikram Misri said that I was deeply honored to be Indian Ambassador to China. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, India-China relations have developed rapidly. The Indian side is ready to work with the Chinese side to maintain the positive momentum of bilateral relations, well conduct institutional dialogues, strengthen practical cooperation, properly handle differences and sensitive issues in a constructive manner and jointly address the current unstable and uncertain international situation.
