The 13th Meeting of Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs Held in New Delhi

From January 29 to 30, 2019, the 13th Meeting of Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs was held in New Delhi. Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Yi Xianliang and Joint Secretary of the East Asia Division of the Ministry of External Affairs Pranay Verma of India co-chaired the meeting. Representatives from the foreign ministries, defence ministries and other departments of the two countries attended the meeting.

The two sides reviewed the situation in the China-India border areas since their last meeting, and exchanged in-depth views on such topics as enhancing confidence-building measures and advancing consultation on early harvests. Both sides agreed that they will take the consensus reached by the leaders of both countries as guidance and follow authorization of the two countries' special representatives for the boundary question with a constructive attitude to further strengthen communication and coordination, speed up the advancement of confidence-building measures, and jointly safeguard peace and tranquility in the border areas, in a bid to push China-India relations for sustained and sound development.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Yi Xianliang and his delegation paid a courtesy call on Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale of India.
